With the news of Christmas with our loved ones being reduced to one day and the new tier preventing areas of the country from mixing at all I thought that some wonderful animated films would be help to take your mind off things. These are our picks of the best of the animated films that you may not have seen before and are great stories with enchanting animation. 

Ponyo

Ponyo

We love Studio Ghibli films and this one is one of the lesser known ones but is a really endearing film. The story is loosely based on the little mermaid and Ponyo is the main character who wants to live on land.

We have long been big fans of the Oliver Jeffer’s books and this delightful short film captured his quirky characters perfectly. Wonderfully narrated by Jim Broadband.

I couldn’t resist adding another Studio Ghibli film in to this list as they are so enchanting. This is the story of two children who move house and discover a forest spirit called Totoro in their garden.
